Welcome to Mr. McEnery's Grade 2 Class site. Here you will find subject information, weekly reminders and information about major assignments.
Additionally you will be able to access links to valuable educational websites that support student learning and provide valuable resources for parents. There is no official agenda book this year due to printing issues. Instead student will be using a notebook for their daily agenda notes.

The following is my September Parent Letter
Welcome back to school! I am very excited about beginning another school year and I want to welcome you and your child to Grade 2. In partnership with you, my goal as an educator is to provide a warm, nurturing and productive learning environment for each child.
I would like to outline a few routines and guidelines that will assist in allowing this school year to run smoothly. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.
Every student will be given an agenda book, where notes home and special events will be written in on a daily basis. The agenda is an effective way of building communication between home and school. I will encourage the students to show you their agenda book each night. Please sign/initial the agenda daily and have your child bring it to school each day. Thank you in advance for your assistance.
It is recommended that Grade 2 students do between 5 to 20 minutes of homework each evening. Reading with your child is an expected part of homework every night. Homework will be given at the beginning of each week and will be due every Friday. Your child will have library time every Wednesday afternoon. Please ensure that their library books are returned each week.
Every Friday we will have a short word wall spelling quiz. The students are asked to read, review and practise writing the weekly word wall words. All new word wall words for the week will be written in the agenda book every Monday. They will start during the second week of school.
Students are asked to have a pair of non-marking indoor running shoes at school. We have gym three times a week. Please label all clothing (to avoid losing personal belongings). Thank you.
Lunch and Snack
Please try to provide healthy lunches and snacks that your child will like. We have snack time twice a day, after each recess. For the safety of all students, please do not send your child with peanut butter, nuts or other nut products.
School Web site and Teacher Blog
Please regularly check our school web site and this blog for upcoming events and important notices.
Donations of Kleenex, student headphones and chair slippers (pre-cut tennis balls for desk chairs), would be greatly appreciated this year. Students are asked to bring in any non-electronic games to be kept at school and used during inclement weather recesses. Lego is also allowed.
Scholastic Book Orders
Book order forms will be sent home every month. Scholastic Books offers a huge variety of exciting fiction and non-fiction books that encourage children to read. Children love to read when they find something that interests them.
I look forward to meeting you at our school Curriculum Night, on September 18th. In the meantime, should you have questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at the school or by note in the agenda book. Thank you in advance for your support and cooperation.
